There are 2 reasons i have found to learn Spanish. 1.) it is actually useful and 2.) some colleges require you to know a language.

I took French in school, but have had few opportunities to really use it. I have travelled around the world and found that spanish speaking people were (on the most part) very friendly and helpful when you did not speak spanish 100% correctly, they tried to help you learn. Spanish was a common language in Europe. Spanish is a good latin based language in which to base language studies later in life.

I have been a high school English teacher for 18 years. With all the demands of the high school English curriculums across our state, many teachers are straying further and further away from the "basics". I have found that the Spanish classes are some of the best sources for students to learn English grammar including tense, sentence structure, and verb usage.

Well not necessarily Spanish, but in most high schools I suppose students are required to take a foreign language. It just helps so that students can learn about another culture and broaden their horizons.

It is predicted that half of the population in the United States in the future will consist of Spanish/Latino decent. This means that the possibility and opportunity of conversing with someone who speaks Spanish will probably be likely. Learning another language may someday enhance your career, travels, a personal relationship, and the way in which you view another culture.

You have a better shot at getting a job if you speak Spanish. We have some employees who speak mostly Spanish. When we hire supervisors or office help, we give preference to people who speak Spanish. Also if you go into a career in advertising, medicine or whatever, a knowledge of Spanish helps

In most high schools, you're required to learn a language. In my high school, there was a choice between Spanish and French. It's just a requirement you have to do.

1) It teaches them concepts about grammar, vocabulary and expression that help them to improve their own language skills (expressing their ideas in written form, for example).
2) If done right, causes them to learn more about another culture, making them better citizens of the world.
3) Regardless of the desires of some reactionaries in this country, the Spanish-speaking population in the U.S. is going to increase with time.
4) Very handy in Mexico, where (in the parts I've been in, anyway) they literally speak the form of Spanish one learns in high school.

You should learn spanish because it makes it easier to communicate with the world around you. For example, in California many things are in spanish. It will help you understand more, even if you don't live in california.

There are more and more Latinos coming to America to work. Most people in Latin America (except for Brazil and Haiti) speak Spanish and so does Spain obviously. These are major countries with large populations.
