Why are some people so scared to say I Love You?

Well, between a couple, it usually would mean that the relationship is getting serious...when you LOVE someone, and that can mean a possible "commitment", and some people are really freaked out about committing to ONE other person.

Some older folks have a hard time saying it to others, even dearly loved family members, because they didn't grow up around people that used the term. It makes them uncomfortable.

People are scared to say I love you because it show commitment. They either arent ready for love or they dont really dont feel like they love you

Saying you love someone makes you vulnerable. I'm not talking about a family member type I love you - I'm talking about between a boyfriend/girlfriend. When you tell a significant other you love them it means you have opened your heart to them, given them your heart, and made yourself vulnerable to them - thats scary stuff.

I am, because I was in love before and it ended badly, Love is intense, its a whole different level, its a scary place for me...

They're afraid of:
1)commitment
2)losing the other person if they don't love you back
or
3)the other person not saying it back

i think because you want to hear it first before you say it. i said it first to my now husband. it's hard for women, because we want the man to show his sensitivity and commitment before we let ourselves get too attached. and there's so much commitment attached to saying "it"....good luck! know that you mean it....

i think it has sometime to do with commitment with what they think i mean if u not willing to go along with what comes with it dont say it
