Take it back to whoever fixed it in the first place, sounds like you might have thrown a shoe (pad) and that needs to be replaced as well as the rotor turned. Who ever did the work should not charge you to fix what they didn't do right. . .

assuming that the rotors are new or at the very least were smooth and up to spec, you have a frozen left front caliper. This should have been picked -up when they retracted the caliper to install the pads. OK I wasn't really thinking, the only thing that will ever put grooves in a rotor are the rivets from your brake pads. To wear down new parts in that short a period of time is hard to do- best guess frozen caliper AND used pads. Take it back.

If they put new brake pads and new rotors on your car last week and there are grooves in one of your new rotors already then the only thing that it could possibly be is the mechanic working on your car installed the pads with some contaminants on the surface...unless one of your pads had a piece of metal embedded in it and I have never heard of this happening. The problem is your mechanic's fault!

New brakes and new rotors, last week, trouble with the left one. You couldn't have possibly worn them to the rivets in a week, I wouldn't think anyway. I would say you picked up a rock, or foreign object and it got wedged between the pad and the rotor and rolled around and ground a few racing stripes for ya'. I am sure you could have heard it, unless someone else drove the car for a while, or you had the stereo blasting, or.......That is my guess.

Was the rotor turned to smooth it out or did they just install the new pads over the rotors w/o turning them or replacing them.It is possible that a small gravel kicked up between the shoe and rotor and caused this

i have seen this happen before,,i had a customer that came in and asked me to heck their brakes,,they were like your,s also,,had groove,s in the,,seem,s that some kind of particle,s or pieces of metal had gotten caught up in them as they were installing them,,and the mechanic didn't see it,,come find out it caused the piston to go a little sideways,s when the brake,s were applied,,this caused a severe pulling to the right side of the car,,it also over heated the pad,s and the rotor,s,,messing both of them up,,when the local shop was confronted about the issue,,the were more than glad to check them out,,when they pulled the pads off they found that one of the rivet,s,,was sticking out way to far,,again,,the mechanic should have caught this,,but he did,nt,,this repair,,got done at no cost to the customer,,and all wa made well,,just keep your cool though,,you never get anything done by blowing up,,then if they don't co-operate,,take it to another mechanic,,and get it checked,,and have him make you out a bill saying what it will cost to re-pair it,,then you,ll see a change of attitude,,hope this help, and remember,,be patient.

Defective materials. Take it back and have them replace them. They either f*cked up the work by misaligning the caliper or the rotor itself wasnt' machined smooth before they put it on the car and the caliper dug right into it.

As said before......could be cheap brake pads.....when it comes to brakes you should naturally want the best.....if at all possible try to find a location where you can watch the work being performed on your car.......I know in a small town like I live in I know all the mechanics and sit with them talking while they perform the work.

hummm, i would assume that they put a brake pad in backward?? Unless the brakes were so cheap the lining fell off and you went straight to metal in 1 day. there is nothing that contacts the rotor but the pad, so it is either defective, on backward, or just not there....

This is not normal, take it back and have the parts replaced. Maybe they put a pad in backwards, who knows.
