Tracey, there's a difference between North Carolina and Delaware. About 300 miles.

The Amtrak does not go near Wilmington, it basically follows Interstate 95. The closest you can get on the train is Fayetteville, NC. The fare there is $230.

Actually, you might want to get off in Raleigh. Because the Greyhound goes to Raleigh from Fayetteville to transfer to Wilmington.

There does not appear to be a train station in Wilmington N.C.
The closes city that there is a train seems to be Fayetteville. And the price for this is $136.00 for a one way, and it probably will make a difference on what date you will want to travel. It is a long ride, like 24 hours. You could fly into Fayetteville from O'Hare for like $180, and save yourself some time.
