Totally - it's easier than saying good bye especially when you really value your friendship.

Yes, you had to be, or should have been friends before lovers. If they were any kind of friend and the lover part did not work. You should remain friends. I have done it many times. Me and my ex lovers were and are very secure in who we are and what we do.

It depends on the relationship when it was good, but it is possible. The problem is his and your current lover. Can they handle your past. Are these other people secure enough to handle this? And will you slip back into a comfort zone with this person? These are questions you need to answer.
NOW if he and you are not currently in relationships and want to try it again, just remember what broke you apart and move away from that.

No, not with just any lover or perhaps not at all unless you really did not care for that person.
If you trully cared for a certain someone you will not be able to stay friends. That is if you trully loved that person, it will be impossible nearly to find it easy to be around once you see you are not his/her. You may even find out you still love that person so much it will hurt you to be around him/her.
So I would suggest to try a different group of friends , one that has no linkage to your ex lover.

You see, this is weird. I always said no, because it just seemed like too much bother and baggage, but now I'm still friends with the last guy I dated. He really wrecked me emotionally, but after we broke up, something really bad happened to him and that got us talking again, after I had never wanted to see him or talk to him again. I guess sometimes circumstance dictates what happens more than our decisions do. Things are all right between us now, even though I still hurt a lot.
Short answer: yes in unusual circumstances, but usually no.

It depends on why they're ur ex. what u or ur partner did. If u really value ur friendship u can try to work things out. It all just depends on ya'll...I'm best friends with my ex-lover. what i did was serious, i'd say. I broke up with her on Valentine's Day in 6th or 7th grade. But we're still best friends, although she hasn't completely forgotten about it and maybe even forgiven me completely. It just all depends on ya'll.

yes, if you were good friends as you were lovers there is no reason to let a good relashinship fall. You should still talk to that person, even if you may be upset that your love relashinship is not going to work out. At least try and stay friends!

NO BECAUSE IF EITHER IS IN ANOTHER RELATIONSHIP IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE WHO'S EX IS ALWAYS HANGING AROUND. I AM PRETTY SURE THAT IT WOULD BE UNCOMFORTABLE. I AM NOT SAYING IF YOU SEE THIS PERSON NOT TO SPEAK BUT LEAVE IT AT THAT. NO NEED FOR PHONE CALLS ARE JUST DROPPING BY TO SAY HI. THERE IS A REASON WHY THIS PERSON IS YOUR EX. IF THE FRIENDSHIP WAS SO GREAT THE TWO OF YOU WOULD STILL BE TOGETHER.

Depends on how your relationship was and how it ended. i always believe in being friends no matter what however i leave it up to the guy to decided if we stay friends. my first bf and i are still really good friends and i like it that way. we have no hard feelings towards each other. it all depends on you and your ex... sometimes its best just to say goodbye
