im playin a 16 rogue, and im workin on a profession. ive got skinning and herbalism right now. i was thinkin about maybe leatherworking, and ive been savin up a bunch of leather, but was wonderin about blacksmithing. are the weapons made gonna be better than the ones ill pick up, or will i not be able to make good weapons? what professions do u think i should go for?

It really depends on the purpose of the profession. Professions such as Leatherworking and Blacksmithing have limited usage since only the items that are at the higher end of the profession are useful. Typically you'll be able to find items that are better than those you can make. And even with the high end items, the materials required are so expensive or time consuming to get that it may not be worth it to make. If you want to use your profession to make money, the gathering based professions (skinning, mining, herbalism) are a better idea.

Acually, if you're looking to make gold, stick to resource gathering. Until your're super rich its just going to blow everything you make. I make a good amount on mining/skinning. And skinning is good because you can grind AND work a profession at the same time. If you do pick up smithy/leatherworking, put them on a different character, just send materials through the mail. The best weapons youll be able to make arent better than ones you can buy until much later. However, enchanting is good as well, making your existing weapons better. Armor smithing is probably the best early on. there is alot of good armor you can make ffrom low levels to high.

Since you use leather armors as a rogue go with LW. If you want money stay with herbalism and go with alchemy. Blacksmithing is good for warriors, you'll find weapons alot better then the ones a smith can make.
