The offense was terribly minor, got caught urinating in a bush. "Health Code Violation" more like bad luck.

You have to show up at the date and time and court specified. You may have to wait a while before your case is called, but if you are not in court when it is called, you will be defaulted, and a warrant may issue for your arrest.

The summons means that you are being called to appear on a specific date at a specific time. If you go on a different day, they will not hear your case as you are not on the docket that day. If you miss the court date, the court has options and can issue a warrant for your arrest if it choses. If that happens you will be arrested (handcuffs and all) and required to post bond before release.

If you have a problem with the date and/or time of the appearance, you can request that the court change it.

It is best to just go and get it over with.

Oh yes, for heaven's sake, stop peeing on the plants or you will get in more trouble.

Read your summons carefully. Some will say that you MUST appear on a certain date, and then there are others that state you can avoid appearing in court by paying a specific fine. If you do not have the latter option on your summons, then you do in fact need to appear. Good Luck.

Yes you must show up on the date given, unless there is a reason you cannot that is a substantial reason, not I wash my hair that day. However, you are responsible for notifying them. Very rarely they will reschedule and a new summons w/ the new date will be mailed to you as was this one.

In some minor cases you do not have to go personally, but you must send a letter pleading guilty or not guilty and giving any mitigating circumstances. It will say what you have to do in the summons you receive.

Call the court and ask to speak to either the judge or the court clerk. You may be able to plead guilty and pay a fine without the hassle of going to court. Depends on where this happened.

If you get a summons you have to go on the date specified. If you get a traffic ticket you have the option to pay it ahead of time or fight it in court.

You have to appear in court on the day that the summons says.

And why were you peeing outside anyway? That's something animals do.
