Everytime I buy ink for this lexmark printer, I always buys the lexmark brand name ink. But everytime I buy the stupid ink, and I don't use it more than a month, the flippin ink dries out, which infuriates me because those ink cost me a fortune.
I bought the printer mainly for printing school works, however, sometimes I use it to print high quality pictures with glossy and matte paper, other than that I print black and white, with low quality for paper works or school works. And if I use it to print for school work I use a 20lb quality paper, please help me.

With regards,

Drew.

Do you mean "dries out" like the nozzles get blocked or just that all the ink gets used? The cartridges for that printer are very small, and if you aren't careful you can end up with even smaller ones. If you are buying the Lexmark #17 or #27 cartridges, you are getting cartridges that aren't completely full. These are low yield versions of the cartridges. If you are buying the Lexmark #16 or #26, then you are getting full cartridges that still don't have that much ink in them. If you are printing pictures, especially on a higher setting than normal, these cartridges will run out very fast. This is just a very rough guess, but I would say that you will only be able to print like 25 full-sized pictures before these cartridges run out. It's possible that they seem like they are drying out when in reality they just run out.

Based on the type of printing you do, I would junk this printer and buy a Canon or HP. You will save in the long run and you can probably find one on sale for the cost of buying a new set of Lexmark cartridges. It might be more money upfront, but it will definitely be worth it.

usually when you have an inkjet printer these inks do not last long enough at all, if the machine sits for a while. The other direction you could go is to get a laser printer. the ink is a powder form and won't dry out, they can sit for months without being used, and even though they are a bit of investment, they really are cheaper per page.
i highly recommend hp.
good luck.

it is probably not the cartridge drying out, only the nozzles, in the printer maint there is a nozzle clean and check, us it to clean out the nozzles, it that doesn't get it all the way unstopped, take it out, set it on a wet paper towel for a few minutes, it should moisten the ink so it will unclog
