In any kind of relationship such as friendship or love, age should not matter at all. What matters is the maturity of the person. There are lots of young people whose mental age is quite above average while there are also many old people whose mental age belongs to the very low level.
What you should try to emphasize to any person you meet is the kind of personality that you have. Your flexibility counts a lot because when you're with a young person, talk about things that might interest him while when you are with an older person, talk about things that interest old people.
Know the art of being a good listener and a good conversationalist. Read a lot about many things. Watch news Know a little about everything as much as you can and I'm sure, that will be your key in getting the interest of anybody whom you meet along the way.

Age doesnt matter if u r only talking. A lot of my friends are older than me and we still have a great time. Dont let age get in the way of making new friends or talking to ppl

Basically age has no direct bearing on intrellect or maturity. But people will judge what others do, and it'slking behind one's back that hurts. If you really do not give a flying f--k what others say or think, then go for it. It's your life, you alone have to answer for how you live it.

I would be willing to bet you are a very precocious flirty young lady. I'd also say that the men you are referring to are probably trying to protect you from yourself.
Please try to be patient with yourself. You'll grow up soon enough and look back wishing to could have your innocence back. Don't do anything just because it feels good do what is RIGHT and you'll have no regrets later.
Stay young dear, Pandora

After the younger person turns 18, it shouldn't matter, but before the it completely does because no one wants to go to jail and get butt-raped for being a pedo, right?

i think with the way laws and society is nowadays people get a little skidish when it comes to talking/flirting with someone younger than them.
when guys walk away from a conversation with you and find out that you're younger than they expected, its most likely because their intentions toward you weren't just to have a conversation...
all i can say is don't take it personally, if age is going to be a factor with someone they're not going to be worth the trouble.
