The offense was terribly minor, I got caught urinating in a bush. "Health Code Violation" they called it. Bad luck really.

Yes you should show up at the appointed time and date of the summons. I don't care if it was a terribly minor offense. You could have ruled against your non failure to show anything from contempt of court to failure to appear. Depending upon what state you are in you can get substantial jail time for failure to appear. And the judge too, can issue a BENCH WARRANT for you and have you brought in, put behind bars and seen at his convenience. At least show some respect for the court if nothing else goes along way in beating this charge. In something like this you might get a fine, but if you don't appear, you've racked up another charge.

You can call the court and ask if you can pay the fine prior the date, if you choose to pay the fine. Otherwise you need to show up on the specified date to appear and plead your case. This is how speeding tickets works where I am from. Never been caught peeing in a bush.

you have to show up on that date! Or you will get a bench warrant for your arrest! You see even though you think you can go a different day you can't BC it's on the judge's and lawyers docket! Means their schedule and if you mess up their schedule by not showing up you get a warrant for your arrest! So you are better to go then get in trouble!

Minor? you're disgusting! I hope they throw the book at you give you the maximum fine possible. What sort of vile third world country were you raised in that you thought that public urination would be acceptable & legal?

It does not matter you have to show up when they say or else they will put out a warrant for your arrest. Believe me I did something really stupid too and now i have enough court fines and community service to keep me busy for a while.

it might be a misdemeanor, but you still have to show up,or it could lead to something worse then a minor violation.just show up and get it over with.
