in my area over the last three summers. First of all I should say that I live in Northern Los Angeles (the San Fernando Valley) And I despise these insects and in past years have gone to great efforts to use insecticides around my home and yard to keep their numbers in check. But no matter what I did they were always around, not only at my house but also throughout the rest of the city and especially during the summer months. Now I still spray for them but they're not as many, and this seems by my own obserbavations to be the same citywide. SO, does anyone know if there is some bio/ecological occurance that has had some effect on these hardiest of Gods little critters. Perhaps some virus or upset in the entomological food chain?
I just want to know. Thanks

The Roachpopulation is based uopn variables.

1) Moisure: the insects must be able to obtain a certain amount of moisture for them to populate.

2) preditors: The rodents in the area may increase in population, thus consuming more of the insects

3) isecticides: Increased usage of insectacides

4) Food: The reduction in accesable food

Whatever the reason is, be glad it has happened... but understand it is probable it may be seasonal...and you may see and increase in the future.

The roach poplation may be down, but I am seeing more mice in my area. I guess it's partly because they have been burned out of the hills, and have come down here looking for food and water.
