Although this movie is more about an incurable (but livable, if you call what happened to these people "livable,") I recommend a movie called "Awakenings", starring Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams. It is actually closed based on a real life story.
Here is a brief outline from www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Database):
A new doctor finds himself with a ward full of comatose patients. He is disturbed by them and the fact that they have been comatose for decades with no hope of any cure. When he finds a possible chemical cure he gets permission to try it on one of them. When the first patient awakes, he is now an adult having gone into a coma in his early teens. The film then delights in the new awareness of the patients and then on the reactions of their relatives to the changes in the newly awakened.
Interestingly enough, the doctor (played brilliantly by Robin Williams) was recently fired outright from the chronic hospital that where he worked.
Great movie. One of the ten best ever made.

I really liked watching "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" last year. Even though it was made in 1947 it still was fun - to see how the spirits of people keep the same personality throughout life and into the spirit world, and sometimes how you have to let go of someone you love in order to function in this physical world, but you always get to meet the ones you love best when life is over. This was an award-winning movie, by the way.

"On Golden Pond", or "Forrest Gump", or "Terms of Endearment" with Shirley Mclaine & Debra Winger! Its a Beautiful movie! About a mother & daughter's life with her husband and her children..The mom & daughter are best friends in this movie. I wont tell you the end ! I own the movie, its so heart-felt. Plus, I was at a point in my life once, where I had a couple close calls with death. So, this movie is very near & dear to my heart... Enjoy!!!
