Sometimes I refer to them as my black friend, not in a racial way, just as a descriptive term, such as 'blonde, tall, old, young'... I only use this when i am talking to someone who doesnt know them.

Their race shouldn't be the most prominent thing about them. If it does happen to come up, I'll say...."he's ___insert race___"
Personally, (I'm mixed with a lot of things)....when someone who is white and middle to upper class calls someone who is black "African-American"...it tells me they are afraid to say "black."
But then again, race shouldn't be the most prominent thing about your friend. So...just say "my friend" and if it comes up...say he/she is ___insert race___ and move on.

This is a dumb question. When U have a friend with Blue Eyes U do not say , " Hey, I have a Blue Eye Friend ". If He/she is truly your friend you SEE only his/her HEART not color. Would not need to classify him/ her to others for ANY REASON.
