It is possible to recover these files with a free program called Free Undelete available at:
http://officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

But the files will come back exactly as they were before, virus and all. So pretty much you have to choose the less of 2 evils would you rather have the files back or would you rather have a virus on your computer. If they are text files and you are still able to view them then it would be possible to simpily make a physical copy (paper and pencil style) then run your virus scan and delete them again then just retype the files (yes it takes a while but you get your info w/o the virus).

There are some file recovery software programs out there however you would risk re-infecting you system and the software is not cheap and no guarantee you will find what you are looking for. . . .

That should be worth 10 points!

if they were in there, they were infected, you could not use them anyway without reinfecting the computer, you can check the recycle bin, gut I would theink they are gone for good, once they became infected, if they were uncleanable, they were no good anyway

you wouldn't want to restore them if they contained viruses
