If this is a sly reference to Creationism, it was very well done.

("If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys around?")

According to the way you asked the question, just because Christians came from Jews doesn't mean that Jews can't produce more Jews.

Now if you're wanting to know why there are still Jews if Christians came from Christ who was a Jew, being Jewish is their ethnic. Some are true Jews by blood, some are converted to become Jewish. Besides, think about how many Jewish people would have to stop reproducing in order to stop the Jewish population from growing. EVERY PERSON WHO IS THE PRODUCT OF SOMEONE WHO IS JEWISH ISN'T NECESSARILY A CHRISTIAN. Think about it!

P.S. I love Jewish people and Christians, so if an answerer is reading this that falls in either category,
PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENSE TO MY ANSWER.

Christians believe that the man called Jesus was the Messiah, the Savior that is prophesized in Jewish scripture.

Jews do not believe that the man called Jesus is the Messiah. Their reasoning is that they say a number of other prophesies that are linked to the Messiah have not been fulfilled (such as a new era of peace happening when the Messiah comes). They feel that Jesus was just another prophet and are waiting still for the Messiah.

When Christianity started, not all of the Jews believed that the man called Jesus was the Messiah. Those who did believe were the first Christians. Those who didn't, remained Jews.

Because Christians were Jews that believed Jesus was the savior. Some Jews did not believe this. They still continue to wait for the savior. So those Jews that did believe Jesus was the savior, sected off and formed a new religion - Catholicism (Christianity).

The Catholic Church wondered about this for a long time, "if Jesus is the fulfillment of Judaism, then why are Jews still around?"

They decided that it was so that Jews could be a "witness people" to point out Jesus when he "comes back"

Of course, the Church wasn't willing to consider that they may be mistaken about the whole Jesus thing in the first place, and that God will not break his promise to sustain the Jewish nation.

Becasue Christians deviated from Jewish ways and formed thier own religion...leaving the Jews and becoming a different entity. This in no way changed the people who were Jews, so they continued in their traditions.

The word Jewish is more of an ethnic term it has to do with the culture it is not a religion. The Jewish religion isn't Christianity, it is Judaism, in Judaism they don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, they believe that he was a prophet and are still waiting for the return of the Messiah. In Christianity it is believed that Jesus was the Messiah. Christianity was started by Jewish for the Gentiles or non-Jewish people.

In theory, you could say, if Catholicism came from Christianity, why are there still Christians around?

Because some people believe one thing, and others believe something else, that's why!

Muslims are cousins as well. The three all call Abraham great-grandfather. Baptists are descended from Christians.
