We haven't "shut ourselves off" from the other 90%, we haven't developed the ability to use it yet. The human race is still evolving. Let's hope it continues to evolve in a productive and responsible way.

Thats an urban myth.
Bassed on the misunderstanding that they though we only used up 10% of the brains pottental...... wasn't realy a proven study though.
However ether isn't a part of the brain that isn't used, some parts may not be used all the time, but over time we use every part of our brain.
And unless we are just laying around with out eyes closed not thinking we use a lot of it at once.

all you people are wrong, it is an urban myth that we only use 10% of our brains and as you can imagine we use the vast majority, it not all of our brain. Check out the link and look for urban myths debunked.
If you read the article you will also find out that water does not drain a different direction in the southern hemisphere, and adults DO continue to grow new braincells.

Some people use less than 10%. Maybe the other 90 was evolution. Maybe a lot of that is used to regulate the body. Good question.

That's usually all that's required to do normal stuff....if you were doing something mentally difficult, you would start using more and more. Just for day-to-day living you don't need that much brainpower (your brain requires a lot of calories and oxygen and all)

I've heard we only use about 4% of our brains, but that might be wrong.

It is my belief that we are made in the image of God.
If we were to use the full capacity of our brains what would we be able to accomplish?
