I started a online store, and it's backed by the bbb, but i do know you need traffic, how can i go about this

Ask other sites to swap small icons or links to each other.

You can list your site on many engines for no charge, just takes a few minutes for each.

Make up meta tags in your web pages so search engines find your site and put it into search engines.

Banner swapping works along w/ the icon and links.

Offer you web service for no charge in turn for free advertising.

Get free biz cards from vista print and pass them out every where you go.

Try to link your site to flea-bay (ebay), amazon, marketplace, etc. Buy a 99 cent auction or what not just to get attention to your products or service.

Find blogs that fit your market and get involved in them, sign them with your dot com, make up a profile w/ company info in it, respond to as many blogs as you can.

Make up company profile on aol, yahoo, geocities and check any areas that allow you to talk, blog, chat, advertise, etc.

Make up a dummy web site that does nothing but talk about yours, your make it a blog site for your market that links to your site, make it a bulliten board.

Just sit back and get creative.

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

There are some ways to get traffic:

1. Post in forums. If your site is about jewelry, search for jewelry forums in Google, get a forum account and post actively there. Include your signature with a link to your site.

2. Submit your site to Google Sitemap. This way, Google will crawl your site faster increasing your chances of appearing on Google Search Engines.

"If you build it, they will come" is not necessarily true on the Web. Putting a website up is one thing, but getting visitors to come to your site is another. The process becomes even more difficult if you have limited resources to market your business.

Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more - that's additional traffic that you get for FREE!

Also, submit each of your "Complete" links (with .htm or .html) to search engines about every 4 to 6 weeks. Do not do it more than that or you could be considered "spamming" the search engines.

Set up a schedule maybe the first week of each month and everyday submit one page of your site.

This site has an ebook on the subject and it really does work. I would suggest you take a look. The guy that wrote it is making a killing and it teaches you how. It is working for me too.

You can search though some yahoo groups and see about putting your website in those groups. Even Ryze or MSN Groups

Try reciprocal linking.
Post someone elses website address on your site, that is willing to post your address on their site.
