It was bizarre. I was on my way to West Virginia with 64 kids. We had two busses and we were heading on a school trip for a week. Our bus driver was a strange little guy and had said bizarre things all morning. But when he looked back at me and said.......I just heard that a plane flew into the world trade center we thought he was nuts. He then leans back and says....."Now one hit the pentagon." Again we thought he was crazy.

We stopped at a rest stop and no one there knew a thing. So we called our school.......sure enough, they confirmed that news reports were just coming in reporting about the traumatic event. We then got back on the bus and made it to the next big town and stopped for lunch. We knew we had to tell the kids or they would find out when we stopped. Immediately after we calmly told all of our kids, one little boy burst into tears. His father worked in the World Trade Center. Another boy then got scared as well......his father was flying to New York. We knew we were going to have to deal with some real emotions at this point. We ate lunch while trying to decide what to do. It was then that the World Trade Center collapsed. We sat there with 64 kids watching these buildings just collapse. It was a surreal moment. School called our cell phone and told us to immediately turn around and come home. We gladly did! It was the most somber bus of children you've ever seen in your life. All they wanted was their parents......just as I'm sure their parents wanted them.

The boy's father that worked in the WTC never made it to work that morning.......he was lucky. The other boy's father who was flying was rerouted to Chicago.

It was day that no one will ever forget!!

I was getting ready for work and had the TV on for the early morning news, when I saw the headlines. Switched over to CNN and that was just after the first plane hit the first tower. I remember vividly the second plane going around the other tower. Up to that point everyone thought it was an accident.
Then I noticed that the second plane did not come around the building. It has just disappeared and found it rather odd, but still not thinking anything more than it was an accident.
Then all hell broke lose and different angles caught the 2nd plane going right through the building, literally.
I sat there with my mouth agape, not knowing if all this was real or not, but somehow I knew it was.
I saw the first building come down and shortly after the second. It was a nightmare that the best film makers couldn;t ever have produced.
A terribly sad moment in American history.

I woke up to make my baby a bottle and I couldn't go back to sleep so I went in the living room and turned on the news. They were showing the first tower that had been hit and talking to witnesses that were calling in.

Everyone was talking about they couldn't understand why the plane was so low or maybe it had engine problems.

Then at the same time all of a sudden out of nowhere another plane came and hit the other tower live while I was watching. All of the people in the news room got distraught and the main news man said " American, apparently we are under some kind of an attack"!!

I remember crying!!!

I was vacationing on the island of Maui.....oddly enough I was awake and listening to the radio when the towers were hit. Just started catching the sunrise on Haleakala.......was heading up the volcano in the jeep at around 9:00 am (EST). I thought the broadcasters were telling some fake story...until I realized they weren't. Since I am from Jersey I immediately tried to think of everyone I know who works in the city. I felt useless and hopeless.....stranded in paradise with no way home. Missing my family, missing my friends and sitting in a jeep thousands of miles away wondering if any more planes were going to kill any more citizens.

It felt so awkward and surreal being that far away from home when the buildings got hit. It was even more uncomfortable flying shortly after.......landing at EWR and still seeing smoke hovering over NYC. Man.....its crazy how different the skyline looks. That big empty space...........

I remember it like it was yesterday...............

I was at the clinic with my son. I was getting a Upper GI done and all the power went out in the building the same time it happened.

My cousin was in the second world trade center. And to this day he has nightmares and has told my family of what he saw. Of the people jumping out the windows and landing on the ground around him. He was even a few floors under the explosion of the other plane. He told of the smell of burning flesh. It sounds awful. I couldn't imagine what he goes through now.

I was in seventh grade, in my history class. We were learning when my teacher got a phone call, and then there was a knock at the door and some woman was there and they whispered, and my teacher announced to us that the World Trade Centers had been attacked, and he turned on the classroom TV, and we watched it, and it was horrifying. I don't think I'll ever just get that out of my mind, all of it.

This was around 8-9 in the morning, and we saw both towers hit and everything on the television. Just looking at pictures of it still creeps me out...

I am answering this because I am a native New Yorker and former resident in Manhattan. I was on my computer, in my office at home. A window popped up on screen and gave a notification that an airplane hit the WTC. I knew immediately that it was no mistake. I turned on a TV and sat there until dark, terrified and amazed that it was real. I soon acquired symptoms of PTSD that continue to this day.

I was about 11 years old. I remeber the exact moment. I was in class checking my math homework when my teacher picked up the phone. When she was done she turned on the t.v. It was very scary but it really opened my eyes. That was the exact moment that I realized not everything is perfect in the world and that I need to do something to help the world become better.

I just got back early that morning from my 4 day business trip to NY City. I went to my office later that morning and then couldn't believe what I was seeing on tv. I was scared, nervous and thanking God I was back in my home area near family. My drive back home from the office was so odd.

Turns out, the husband of one of the woman I was suppose to meet with on my trip (and new for about 7 years at that time) died in the WTC building. I never met with this woman b/c I cut my trip short by a day, figuring I covered enough work in the 4 days I was there.

They never did find this woman's husband. I was shocked and cannot even imagine being in this woman's shoes. Her life was in total chaos for quite a few months. She was so strong. I went one month later to the day to visit her. Her phone was ringing off the hook.
