Hi, woodpeckers are saving your shed!
sort of...You have some kind of insect in the wood on the shed.
Woodpeckers eat insects and they drill their holes into wood in search of those insects.
So, what you really have is an insect problem. Treat the shed for insects. READ ALL PESTICIDE LABELS CAREFULLY.
Figure out what type of bug you have, buy the correct pesticide, and have at it CAREFULLY! Bugsie

Woodpeckers do not just drill for nothing, they are looking for the bugs inside the wood so my advice would be to make sure you do not have an insect infestation (carpenter ants or termites) before getting rid of the woodpeckers.

I had good luck spreading hot pepper flakes all over the area quite
generously. I didn't have woodpecker but birds kept building mud nests on porch, I cleaned all up and spread lot of red & black pepper. The birds did come back but they didn't stay. I love to warch them but not that close.

Without doing them any harm, I'm thinking the only way would be to buy yourself one of those fake owls at a plant nursery and put him where they are doing the most harm. They are supposed to be afraid enough of owls to stay away. Hope SOMETHING works. I've been having much the same trouble with squirrels, and finally decided if you can't beat 'em, feed 'em!! Good Luck!

Find out where they perch. Then find a sticky substance and apply liberally. I once used glue traps that are used for insects and rodents and when the birds land on them their feet stick and they fly away. I never had one come back. They hate sticky stuff on their feet.
