Yes, while they provide entertainment, how much does that truly contribute to Society? The President of the United States does not make in a year what some athletes or actors, actresses make. Yet who holds the ability to destroy the world with atomic w4apons in his/her hands? Sure is not some overpaid pampered entertainer or sports figure. If professional sports folded tomorrow the world would not collapse, same could be said for movies in Hollywood. Other forms of entertainment would replace, maybe even more family time.

It depends on what standard you use to judge if someone is 'getting paid too much money'. Is it the amount of time spent working? Is it the effort spent? Is the risk they took to go into this field getting paid off for a few?
In the big scheme of things, there are so many people who want to be successful athletes and actors, yet so few are truly successful. Supposedly those who make it big are getting paid for their talent and risks they've taken in life. Also it's not right to take money made by Hollywood or professional sports and just give it to the government or charities. That is communist thinking. Those institutions wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the payoff.

Ok ok Im going to try and stay calm as I answer this question.. Ok I'm not going to comment on the actors coz I don't know maybe they do get paid 2 much. But athletes... In Ireland anway (I'm not sure about everywhere else) athletes don't become professional until they have had an exceptional achievement e.g. Dervla o Rourke did not become pro until she won the world indoors 60m hurdles. Being good enough 2 go pro means u av no social life, can't av a baby, av 2 watch what u at... the listis endless, they deserve every penny they get.

It may seem that they get paid too much money; but, professional sports and the entertainment industry are private enterprises which pay their employees what the market will bear. It may not seem fair that teacher's, firemen, soldiers, nurses, and doctors, etc get paid far less, but that is capitalism. We as consumers tacitly agree to this system when we pay $10.00 a ticket to see a movie, or $40.00 a ticket and $6.00 for a hot dog to watch a ball game. The way to change things is to stop watching sports or going to movies. Yet, that will never happen.

I agree no one in my opinion has 15 million dollars worth of talent.I don't care if they have award on their shelves.....Give them an hourly wage, I could even understand a couple thousand a film or a game, that's about it...............Take that extra money and get the US out of debt..........Then we would be able to really GIVE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
