In past 10 years Bangalore has seen a tremendous growth, particularly in IT sector. But in the name of globalization, don’t you think we are loosing our culture and local language (Kannada). What can be done to save our Kannada language in Bangalore? Why people coming from other state for a long term to Bangalore do not learn Kannada?

Each aspect has its own merits and demerits, how do we view it and make a balance?!

Bangalore has the reputation of its cosmopolitan culture much before the IT boom there, and perhaps it has encouraged the people from other states to go there with least hesitation. Bangalorians should be proud of this aspect. In materialistic terms, the results are amazing when compared with other southern states' capitals and major cities, as they are desperate now to acquire this status.

So far as local culture and language is concerned, even the locals have enriched themselves on these two counts. With inflows, locals do have gained good things from other cultures and languages. Change is the basic law of the nature and we are bound to change with passage of time. What you had 20-25 years ago was not exactly there 100-150 years ago and what is there today, will change in the following years. Try to see the other side of the coin and count on your blessings as well.

It is upto us to adopt good things from new sources and make our life better with changing times.

I agree with u...in the name of globalisation we are losing the garden city of India...the culture and local language of bangalore is on stake and the city itself is losing shape....horrible traffic jams..overloaded population..unnecessary fly overs..these are making things worst...a decade ago when I was 12 or 13 years old I still remember the roads used to be so calm..and we were still happy without the flyovers and grade separators...we call our city garden city but all the old trees are being sacrificed for the sake of ring roads...
I dont know where all this is going to end...I feel really sorry for the condition our beautiful Bangalore is in today...

try to speak in Kannada..see drama..movies..put your kids in Kannada schools..be associated with the Kannada and culture

We cant stop others coming to Bangalore...i feel it is Hindi which is direct enemy of Kannada rather than Tamil or any s.Indian languages.
