As a woman, I feel pressured to have children. Why does society hold mothers in a better light than non-mothers?

God put women on earth to bear children, but ultimitely, you have the power of choice he blessed you with too. Do whatever you feel is right for you. Don't do anything because you're under pressure. Who cares what society thinks? You make your own decisions based on what's right or wrong for you in your life, not what's gonna work for society.

I gave up on having children a long time ago. Don't feel pressured. I see pregnant women every damn day (and lord knows it angers the crap outta me to see these women with bulging nasty bellies but anyway....) I end up giving every pregnant woman the dirty look, for what reason I don't know, but I just hate them right now lol.

But yeah to continue to answer your question, don't feel pressured. If you are not ready to have kids yet, then don't. There are people out there who wish they had waited instead of rushing into having a baby.

I'm 27 and don't have any kids, and I'm glad I don't right now. But I still get angry when I see pregnant women, I want to vomit everytime I see them lol.

"go and multiply" said God!

Since old ages, women who bear and have children have always been looked at in favour.

The Bible has it written too, look up Rachel and Leah, wives of Jacob and how he got tricked by his father in law into making Leah withchild first, when RAchel for many years could not have children and so desperate she gave her own husband a servant with which to have a kid with and pretend it was hers (Rachel's).

I think if you love trully love your spouse you will want to have a child with that person and bring about into this world more of your good qualities along with your loving spouse, by having that child bearing your genetic inheritance.

Society I think just follows Biblical tradition too, mothers are favoured because it is a true miracle to give birth.

I think it is perfectly fine not to have children. I have 3 great kids (all grown). But..if I had to make that choice today, I would probly choose not to have them. Too much pressure on kids today, and WAY too much pressure on parents as well.
