schools seemed to have started as university at the renaissance in Europe. By schools I mean meeting in buildings. Going to a teacher and learning was always done, but not necessarily in classrooms or in buildings. The ancients often met outside with their teacher or at the home of their teacher. In ancient India they had schools set up to teach the brahmins (priests) that are somewhat similar to schools today. Buildings were built, but these were to house the young children who had arrived to be taught. They were placed into groups and then given a teacher...a guru. They would usually sit outside in courtyards, the guru in the front and the shishyas gathered around. That's about as close to a 'class' as you can get if you go back far enough in history, but again no classroom. And it this seems to have only been for the brahmins. Others were sent to the home of the guru and the shishya studied there. The same with most other cultures, not just ancient India. It seems classrooms and buildings were things that started to develop within the church of Renaissance Europe. It just kept developing until we finally ended up to today with air conditioned buildings set up with classrooms where people gather and sit at desks that are arranged in that 'classroom' style and the teacher is at the front of the room and the students facing the teacher. And I guess we should be thankful that there is air conditioning. My mother said that when she was growing up the schools she went to didn't have air conditioning, they just opened windows.

education has been around as long as humans have. maybe you should try being thankful that it's cold and you have the option of putting a sweater on, as opposed to sitting in a one-room school house with children from 4-18, all trying to learn at once. we've come along way, try to appreciate that.

Probably someone like me that went to a building that is very hot, with no air-conditioning, to learn. One thing I learned is that students appreciate a controlled-temperature environment. 98 degrees and sweating profusely makes students cranky.

People did.
Way back in olden times, parents thought it would be easier to teach ignorant children all together at one time by a TEACHER.
The cold is called AIR CONDITIONING.
And LEARNING,is what most of you idiots won't try to do.
