I remember these people in a van and they picked up some guy and he killed them or something but cut them up and wore their skin on his face. I know it is not anything recent maybe from 10 years ago? I dunno. But it scared the hell out of me and I think it was based on a true story.

It's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie is loosely based on an actual person in the 50's named Ed Gein who dug up people who looked like his mom and wore their skin. Psycho is also based on him.
