God is a wizened old man looking down upon his subjects on a throne. But God is neither a man or a woman. And it, thing, or object. Humans will never know who or what God is. All we have is exaggerations and we picture god to be.
But God - in the philosophical sense - can be a boy playing chess. Moving his kingdom around. Controlling every move and decision. But who is he playing against? No-one. God has no competition, nobody higher than himself.
We can only imagine, gathering images and theories. God couldn't be a little boy playing a chess game, but who knows. The sad thing is, we'll never find out. Just imagine what you want to believe but one thing will never change : The lord is our god, the lord is one.

No. God is a real person. His name is Jehovah (Ps. 83:18). He has qualities and personality traits. 1 John 4:8 "God is love." Read your Bible, it is God's own word. It gives insight into his personality. He does not cause suffering, but only permits it. This has to do with issues brought up in the garden of Eden by Satan. He challenged whether or not Jehovah's rule was best for humans, or if they should rule themselves. Well, we've seen how humans ruling themselves has brought about much pain and suffering, and especially death. God is allowing this to happen to answer those issues brought up by Satan. Read Rev. 21:3, 4. Notice what it says God will do in the near future.

Yes.

An angry and demanding boy with a big chess game and an attitude.

That's the main idea THEY want us to have.

Isn't this cute?

Ha, and we are the chess pieces? I have a good friend who thinks we are in an aquarium and God stirs the waters from time to time, subtracting and adding and just messing with us.

He's not a little boy, and the chess board is not that big. The bigger question is who is he playing with.

A similar expression was used in the movie "Constantine" (with K. Reeves). In one scene, he said, "Lady, God is a kid with an ant farm."

I have often mentioned before that the error with our general perception of God is considering a 'being' -- man, woman, thing -- with the unlimited ability to pawn us around for his/her/its amusement. This is simply untrue. So, to answer your question: no. But in light of a large perception today... yes, sadly, that would appear to be the case.

No. Why would god play a game when god already knows the outcome.

No. God is so much bigger than your perspective of him!
He is in control but it isn't a game. And it will matter, for all eternity, if you are on the winning or losing side.
