You need to report that teacher and what they said to the Principal immediately, if the principal doesn't do anything, take the matter to the school board.
Also, I would consider switching my child out of that classroom (if there is another section of that grade taught by another teacher.)
Good Luck.
No child can be ignorant - they just haven't learned enough yet. Ignorant is a term for teachers who would label a child that way, after all of the education and training they have received.

well, i guess since your question is under the special education category that your child is in a special education class. special education teachers are not supposed to be bias people. they know that the children they teach are not fast learners and that they do not for the most part catch on quick. i would report that teacher to the principal and if nothing was done there i would go to the superintendent of the school system. no child deserves to be told that they are ignorant. each child should have the opportunity's to learn in an unhurried and non-judgemental environment! take it from me... i am a preschool teacher i should know :)

What I would do would make that teacher wish she had not been so shameful as to say that about my child.
When the judge said, " teacher you have lost your license to teach children in this state", she would be very ashamed of her stupid mouth.
No none in the position a teacher is in, should be so ignorant as to show her own incompetence at being a teacher by telling you the child is unteachable. With her attitude, that it is the child's fault that she can't teach them , instead of her not having the teaching tools she needs to teach them is wrong! Teachers are born not made.

First, it sounds to me like the teacher is ignorant him/herself. You need to have a talk with the teacher and the principal. Don't be ashamed if you need to ask for an interpreter. Your child is not getting the best education he/she can if the teacher already has a preset dislike for the child.
Second, look into taking some English classes yourself. Your child will learn the English language better if you are able to speak it to him/her correctly. They also like to see that their parents value education as much as they say they do.

Report her to the principal and the school board. Many children have learning disabilities or other problems that impact thier ability to learn. The teacher has no right to assume your child is ignorant, nor does she have the right to pass judgement on you as a parent.
Teachers are not phsycologists......and therefore have no experience or resources to make a decision as to whether or not your child may be "ignorant"

My 1st tendencies would be to slap the teacher.
But you CAN'T do that, because then YOU go to jail.
If the school is saying this about your child.
1st I'd go to the school and speak with the principal.
Tell the Prinicpal what this teacher said about your child and about you.
Then you should DEMAND that your child gets TESTED to see what kind of SPECIAL HELP that your child needs.
If the Principal will not give you any help, then you contact the School Board. and register a formal complaint.
Verbal and in wrighting..explaining how your child and you were verbabley abused. AND how the school is REFUSING to give your child the SPEICAL help that he/she needs.

I would most definately file a complaint with the principal and maybe with the school board itself, there is no reason why a teacher needs to say that about ANY child!!!

I would document exactly what they said and then write a letter to the school board, school principle and a lawyer. This is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I would request that my child be reassigned to another teacher and that this teacher not have any contact with my child.

This is hard to believe in this day and age but if this happened I'd be reporting this to the principal and requesting (demanding) another teacher for your child. If the principal is not cooperative, then I would be going to the superintendent's office. You don't let this like this just go on and on.

Set up a conference with the school principal. Discuss your concern and tell him/ her that your teacher has violated the teacher's code of ethics and that you suggest he address the issue or your next move is to file a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights.
