What is the best day hike in Yosemite?

Is there another hike similar or maybe a little less strenuous than Half Dome that can be done in one day, with similar amazing views?

Half Dome is undoubtedly the most strenuous hike in Yosemite, so every hike in Yosemite would qualify as "less strenuous". If you want something challenging and with great views, try hiking to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls from the valley floor. It's a pretty strenuous hike, takes probably 3-5 hours going up (faster going down, of course), and the views are amazing at the top. Bring plenty of water and snacks!

If you want something significantly less strenuous and shorter, then without a doubt, I recommend the Mist Trail to the top of Vernal Falls. It takes a couple of hours round trip (more if you linger awhile at the top of the falls, which is highly recommended.) But be prepared to get seriously wet if you go during the spring or early-to-mid summer - Many people aren't prepared for just how wet the "mist" makes you! Thankfully though the "wet" portion of the trial is relatively short and you'll dry off quickly in the sun at the top of the falls, especially if you wear quick-drying fabrics (leave your cotton shirt at home.)

You could do part of the Half Dome trail - top of Yosemite Falls and all, but I'd say the most strenuous part of the whole hike is the first part up the mountain switch-backs.
