Sounds like a dumb question, why would you go back? But it's either her- or waiting an extra month in a time sensative situation for another doctor. Should I just forget and forgive that her advice was totally wrong and chalk it up to the fact that everyone makes mistakes?

no - see another doctor........my 18yr. old cousin was bieng treated for migrain headaches - for 6mos. started having seizures and another doctor actually found that she had a mass on the brain that was cancerous, stage 4, terminal..........she died. you dont have time for mis-diagnosis, life is already to short.

Depending on what the "misdiagnosis" was, it is possible that the signs and symptoms WERE indicative of whatever was going on. Which means, it wasn't a "mistake"; just a diagnosis. There are a lot of ailments/diseases/illnesses that mimics others. Medicine is not an exact science. As far as going back to the same doctor or getting another one, it has to be your decision. No one can make this decision for you.

If you want to go back to her, you should talk about the mis-diagnosis and get her response to your feelings about it. Don't brush it off, make her realize that it had an impact on your respect for her as a doctor. Then maybe give her another chance. If you still don't feel comfortable then find a new doctor.

No, doctors should not make serious mistakes like this. Find a new one and dont look back. Go one step further and report this doctor, for the safety of other individuals. They have malpractice insurance for a very good reason.
