Use clorox for colors it has an enzyme eater in the detergent to take out the smell.

Use the inexpensive fabric softner "suavitel" the scent is really wrong and should work. It will replace the yucky period smell.

baking soda in the wash water. pre treat with a stain remover.

hydrogen peroxide will do the trick to will clean out what ever blood or mucus residue is left over but don't use to much because it will deteriorate the fabric.

Be sure to use the proper kotex...if you use a tampon wear a pantyliner with it to avoid the mess to start. Buy new ones
