The decline of the American Education System.

It deserves public attention because Education affects every aspect of our country. If it continues to decline our economy will faulter and China/Europe will surpass us.

American Education especially higher education is the joke of the world over.
We need to improve education dramatically to compete in the future at a global level.

one reccomened course of action pay teachers salaries equivalent to what they are worth IE the salories of medical doctors. Fire all lazy *ss teacher who sit on their tenure doing next to nothing or get rid of tenure all together. Clean up the corruption in administration and school boards that allows for the hiring of inept relatives and friends over qualified skilled teachers. Put Academics first NOT football .

I provide Grants Management for social service programs and I am deeply distressed over the lack of accountability from nonprofit social service organizations. The public should be made totally aware of how their tax dollars are misspent by so many of these "tax-exempt" social organizations, particularly those that profess to be faith-based (which is a ridiculous government initiative in itself). A course of change is quit having the "foxes watching the hen house" and have audits that are conducted by the private sector instead of the government who dole the bucks out and get paid for accountability but fail to perform unless something is LEAKED to them by private sector whistleblowers (who are often retaliated against for doing so). Also the regulations that govern applying for pubic grants for social programs should call for PROOF that the organization has appropriate fiscal management systems. Thanks for letting me get that out of my head and much success to you in your work. My family has a number of MSWs who I am very proud of.

Homelessness. It is a growing symptom of numerous problems including addictions, mental illness, spouse abuse, and unemployment/underemployment. Soup kitchens are just not going to fix the problem.
