Abstinence is the cheapest and the best. But if you are married, and is not planning to have a baby yet, talk to your OB-GYN about what kind of birth control you would want to use and can use. If it is short-term, meaning you will probably want to have a baby in 2-3 years, then go for birth control pills, or the Nuvaring (a vaginal ring - very effective, and I love the ring it's very convenient), or if it is long-term birth control then you may try Depo-Provera shots (the con with the shot - it takes longer to get pregnant after you get off it) or an IUD. There are lots of options, discuss it with your doctor.

Best of luck!

Best answer is NO SEX AT ALL. But, if you are a normal human being, that might be too hard to do. So, the first thing you should do is see a gynecologist. He/she can give the right answer for you, depending on your medical and family history.

The Pill is almost 99% effective, but there is always a 1% chance that you can still get pregnant, especially if you are taking antibiotics, while on the pill. Also the pill has many side effects including blood clots, heart attack and stroke. If you smoke, the chances of those side effects increase greatly.

Condoms are only effective if you use them right.

Spermicides are ok, but they are most effective when used with a condom. But make sure that you are not allergice to a spermicide, that can be painful.

Go to webMD to get an accrate account for each type of BC. Or talk to your gyno. They can give you the best advice.

I just had an IUD put in - it's the BEST! It lasts for 5 years and I don't have to put anything in, don't have to remember to take a pill or go to the doctor to get a shot and no hormonal side effects. The pill ruined my sex drive real bad. I love my IUD!

Well....the most correct answer for your question is ABSTINENCE.

Other than that, there are several options depending on your preference. There are daily pills, quarterly shots, month implants, or even subcutaneous release pills that last up to 5 years. Check with your pediatrician to see which fits your needs.

It depends on a lot of things. Do you get PMS? Are you a smoker? Do have a heavy period or painful period?

Seasonal is great if you have light periods already. It allow you to have only 4 periods a year and makes your boobs huge, but very sensitive. Ortho-tricyclen is great for heavy periods and those with PMS.

I use Seasonale and love it...but I use it for reasons other than not getting pregnant.

As so many others have said, don't have sex. Seriously.

If you do, use two forms of birth control (condom and pill, for example)...use a condom to help prevent STDs, too (not 100% effective).
