Could be. Could also be a dead solenoid. Could even be that the engine is seized, although you would get some noise from the starter trying to work, so that's less likely than anything else. Use a voltage meter to check for continuity at each end of the ground and positive cables. If you're good there, pull the starter out, and take it to either Auto Zone, Checker's, or the like and have them do a pull test on it. If it's good, start looking elsewhere. Make sure the fuses in the Power Distribution Box are good (you may want to do this before anything else). Cheap fix, both time and money, if that's all it is.

The battery you put in the truck, was it a new or used battery? Make sure the battery you installed is good. OK, check the ground cable. trace it to the engine block. Remove it and clean it very good before you install it back on, clean the engine block as well where the cable bolts on to.. Wire brush it if you need to, including the terminals on the battery as well. If it still makes no noise when you turn the key, try tapping on the starter with a small hammer and turn the key. If it engages, then you have a faulty starter or a starter solenoid. Easier just to replace them as a complete unit. Finally and this is way out remote possibilty. Check your oil, if you ran the engine oil down empty, you may have seized the motor. But this is a last resort remote possibilty. Do not go to the fuel pump as recomended by another, the engine will crank fast but not start if you had a bad pump.
Good Luck, or e-mail me if you have more questions

it sounds like the starter. make sure your battery connections are tight, then check the starter connections as well. is the alarm disengaged? the old fashioned (and best) way to check a starter is to crawl under the vehicle and bang on the starter with a hammer while someone tries to start it by turning the key. if it cranks, then theres the problem. if not, it could still be the starter, a fusible link, a broken battery cable, or a seized engine. if all attempts fail, tow it to my shop in West L.A. and i'll have a look at it.

Seems that you have a Starter Solenoid that has lost its connection internally you may tap the starter with a hammer if the vehicle starts after this you will need to replace the Starter assy because the brushes are wearing down and this is a very common problem on GM products if you want to get technical you can use a rest light connected to ground and see if you are getting power to the purple (small wire going to the starter solenoid)

if your starter doesnt turn check the battery, if the battery is fine and the starter is fine it could be the fuel pump. When you turn the key you should hear a "whhhiirrrr" sound. that is the fuel pump. If u dont hear it thats the problem. if you do and it still doesnt start check your fuses, there is a relay for your starter, the fuse should be located under the hood. if u still have problems e mail me
