ok, when there's sound on my pc (mostly music through itunes, but sometimes games), there is this annoying crackling sound, it usually comes when im trying to browse the internet or open some other application, i recently bought a new sound card, dusted out the computer with canned air, and designated some more of my 512mb of memory to itunes, what else can i do?

I would recommend moving the sound card to a different PCI slot, move it at least 1 away from another PCI component that is installed. Another thing is that it could be the driver, loading the new card is one thing but have you gone to the creative website to download the latest drivers. One thing I like to do is I like to max out all my sound on the PC then I use the speaker volume to control the volume of the system.

It sounds like you are getting RF Interference. If your speaker cables are near any electrical sources (your surge protector for example) try moving the speaker wires or surge protector away from each other. Also you can buy an RF suppressor from Radio Shack. Try looping your speaker cable though it a couple of times right before the speakers.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to ask you for more details. Exactly what sound card do you have? What kind of speakers do you have? And regarding the speakers, are you positive they are connected correctly?

Its not ofthe soundcard its due to bad software error. all you have to do is right uninstall the sound driver by going to control panel+add remove programme>>>>>>>and there may be IRQ conflics alsoo jsut remove the soundcard and try it in an other slot thats it .....or else u can go to bios and select load setup defaults. this may solve the issue
