144???
I am guessing a police officer uses a taser to get a person under control who is out of control...gun or no gun.
144 people over what time period? I would say on the big scale...this seems completely minor. How many people have died from drunk driving in the same period? How many people have been murdered? How many kids have died from malnutrition?
I wish it were only 144 for each of those things.
I think we need to work in an area that saves the most lives...even if you got Tasers outlawed....how many people have you saved??? What if you somehow got rid of crack??? Think how many people you'd save THAT WAY!!

In law enforcement, Police are expected to assess any situation and respond accordingly. Tasers are simply another measure of enforcing the law they're required to uphold (though some of them stretch the boundaries a little). It should be noted that in any situation where force is used, Police are required to answer for the actions they took on the suspect. They have superiors to answer to as well. So, in any justified situation where they felt a taser was necessary, then I say by all means use them. It's when the Officers start abusing the power given to them by the American people (As does happen often) that we have something to worry about (Which would be right now).

yes, some police will take advantage of their power, I know a few who do. but I think in most cases, it's fair. the reason, the media doesn't always explain the whole story, or the truth for that matter. you can't always believe what you see/hear. they have it so if a cop wants to carry and use a taser gun, they have to be shot with it first to know what one's body goes through.

those 144 idiots that You and the mindless amnesty international believe died as a result of being tazed is absolutely false. There has not been any deaths caused by the tazer. people have died after being tazed but it is because of other reasons unrelated to the tazer itself. usually drugs! The tazer actually saves lives because it is used in many cases where deadly force is justified but sadly not used.I personally think deadly force should be used more often.

The chances of a citizen dying from a taser are infinitly lower than the chances of dying from a gunshot.
Which would you prefer?
