Having just returned from local zoo where 2 year old spent much time feeding her favorite giraffe, I can tell you that the tongue is a dark blue/black color. Alot like that of a chow dog.

That's hard to say as they appear to be more than one colour at the same time . I think that they are blue/grey deep down with a reddish top so they appear to be a mauve type colour .
