Yes, they can eat grasshoppers and any other insect or invertebrate. However, grasshoppers have a hard exoskeleton and it is difficult to digest. Too much is not good.

The best food for a turtle is pellets, which has all the nutrients it needs for good growth. Imagine feeding dogs meat all the time. Not a good idea. Dog food is balanced and has everything it needs.

So, grasshoppers and other live prey (insects, inverts, meat and fish) should only be given as a treat. Sure, they love the treat, but it's not good if they only eat that. It may take the turtle some time to accept the pellets.

yes it is normal food for them ,they also eat shrimp,tortillas ,lettuce,cooked rice ,bread,dead fish,red meat,bananas,papapya,carrots,a variety of plants,duck weed ,young water hyacinth etc ,
when they are full they stop eating and go to sleep in the sun

Turtles will die if you give him grasshoppers to eat.

i think it is ok becuz they can eat crickets and worms
