Spermicide is fairly cheap and over the counter but not as effective. If you have insurance, birth control pills are cheap and one of the most effective. If you don't have insurance go to planned parenthood and they are pretty cheap. Although condoms are your only protection against STD's.

Try the Family Planning Method. You track your menstrual cycle and only have sex on the days when you aren't fertile. I've never tried it, but I know a lot of people who have, and it works really well. Maybe ask your doctor about it or find a book about it. It's free and it works!
