Some people lose their innocence as children. It just depends on how long and how well you're sheltered from anything bad.
Maybe you could volunteer at an animal shelter. They always need people to help.

Innocence is a term that older people give to young children. Because the term being an adjective, is speculative depanding on who is using it, there could be several different answers...I'll take a shot.
Innocence is lost when you enter into adulthood. When you're a child, you think anything is possible due to complete ignorance. In some ways ignorance is a good thing. You can still believe in Santa Claus, or that you might one day be able to fly if you think about it hard enough.
As we mature as people we learn the laws of physics, learn that Santa is not real, and gain a broader perspective of reality. Innocence as we call it may be lost, but knowledge is gained. Truth be told, the more knowledge you have, the more it leads you back to innocence. There's a thought for you! :)

We think of young children as innocent because they don't know anything. As we get older and start to learn things like Daddy is really Santa and thunder isn't caused by a heavenly bowling alley, we slowly erase the "innocence" with knowledge.
An adult that is "innocent" or "child like" often times is mentally retarded and was unable to grasp the lessons that the rest of us learned thru the years.
As for what you should do this summer - get involved in a volunteer project where you can learn something new as well as help someone less fortunate than yourself. It will make you feel great about yourself, introduce you to new people and give you something positive to put on a job application when you start looking for summer employment in years to come.

Two questions for one, eh? lol
Well, I like your first question the best. I believe people lose their innocence when they start to realize that things are tougher than they thought they would be, and people are not as nice as they thought they would be. Only a person with a strong will and positive belief in people and their goodness can maintain at least a bit of innocence. Not many people can do that.
For summer, why not get a little job. Something to save money or spend on something you want.

Depending on how you define "innocence," the answer is either (1) let's hope they do, or (2), they choose to.
1) If "innocence" is "inexperience" or "lack of information," time will provide experience, and let's hope they gather information, from life experience and/or education.
2) If by "innocence" we mean "a sense of wonder," then they don't lose it, they let it go, in which case your use of the word "loose" could be right -- it's a choice.
Too many people place greater emphasis on negative experience than on positive experience (or information), in which case the world begins to looks cramped and frightening. As we age, we become more aware of our mortality. If we choose to define life by our fears and negative experiences, constantly focused on watching for the next pain to come, we give away our sense of wonder.
Gregor Mendel, the monk who is often called "the father of genetics," felt that science, in seeking how the universe works, could only, ultimately, reveal the glory and wonder of creation. Looking at his example shows us a way to put what we experience, and learn, into a context that allows us to be both informed, and innocent.

A child is innocent because they do not know the true meaning of doing wrong. As a child grows, and they gain knowledge and a sense of feeling with their actions, more often than not innocence is lost through fear or lack of morals
We do something wrong which may cause us to lie (the child may break something scared of being told of) so with the knowing of the lie, a touch of innocence is lost.
As we grow we learn it is easier to lie than be honest, with ourselves and to others. Some people learn to steal as they grow, innocence lost as they KNOW it is wrong.
I could write a list but a childs wrong doings are innocent with the lack of knowledge of the wrong doing.
Comes down to morals doesn't it, you either follow your heart and be honest with yourself and others to keep the inocence or you allow the fear of being honest take over to assist with the loss of your innocence.
Oh, we give up on Santa-the child believes in santa-Santa-Satan.
Six months to the day after 666 is 6th December, the Eve Santa traditionally gave gifts. Oh, that was St Nicholas who left gifts but MAN-not child or God changed the name to Santa, disguised within that name is Satan.

i guess people lose their innocence because as you get older, there are more chances of making a bad mistake and being exposed to bad stuff. like, a 30-yr-old has had more chances of losing their innocence than a 6-yr-old...
and about ur summer, travel to a different country with a couple of ur closest friends! im sure it will be worth the $$.....

They have been conditioned to act and think like everyone else, and are afraid of what other people would think if they were to let their childlike innocence guide their everyday actions. In a nutshell, like the answers to so many of life's other big questions - fear.

We pick up things as we grow up. In the process, our minds changes. Do something worth while during the summer.

people lose their innocence slowly and gradually as they mature. they more throw it away then lose it. with every lie and every meaness to another and every bad name called, etc. we lose a piece and by the time we are adults, it is gone and we haven't noticed. we lose faith in what we had as a child and it hits home in adulthood.
for the summer, I suggest you read and read and read
