And it is in one direction - when they go up when there is not alot of water. Very annoying in a light rain.

They are new blades - teflon type to boot.

The harder it rains the better they work. Hard to say how light of rain or mist. This is something that started recently at about 60K miles.

I've had this problem with almost all aftermarket blades. Once i switched to OEM blades, the chatter disappeared. You'll spend a little more money but it's well worth it. If you have a toyota, go to a toyota dealer, dodge -- dodge, chevy--chevy. and so on.

Am I the only one who actually reads a question before I attempt an answer? Everyone before me wrote "you need new blades". Yet, the asker types, in plain english, "they are new blades. teflon - to boot". Read the friggin question, people.
To answer, you said it does it in a light rain. How light a rain? Are we talking something on the lines of a mist or slightly heavier? If so, try setting the delay on the wipers for a longer period of time (usually, turn the wiper knob closer to off). Wipers need water to work right. It acts as sort of a lubricant for the rubber on glass. If it's doing it in a heavier light rain, set the delay a little shorter. I've found that new wipers sometimes do chatter, and it's usually when set to wipe quicker than there is sufficient rain on the window. Some people above wrote to try tightening the arm. That's a good suggestion, too. Over time, the arms do loosen, and sometimes they bend and lose the tension. If the speed of the wipers doesn't solve it, try those suggestions, too. If the wipers are less than three months old, you shouldn't have to replace them already, regardless. Teflon wipers are excellent. They last quite a bit longer than standard ones (I have them, myself).
Sorry for the rant above, but stupidity annoys me, and I've been having a rough day. Blueman, Burnsie, Transcat: You guys had good, helpful suggestions. Yours weren't posted when I ranted, but I saw them afterwards. jay, aftermarket blades do just as well as OEM. Rubber is rubber.

The rubber blade is sticking to the dry windshield.
Nothing you can do about it other than to limit the use of the wipers when the windshield is not real wet.
On the reverse sweep, there is a different amount of force on the blades.

That usually cuz the wiper blades need to be changed.
A cheap fix to the problem, and they should be changed about once a year for best operation of wiper blades.

cheep blades are made with hard rubber and are not flexible after a short time. dirty dry windshields will also make good ones chatter. use some ammonia and water to clean the glass.

It is common knowledge that when your wipers squeek and chatter it is tiime to change them. Check your car's manual on how to do that,
