I collect old photos, letters, stamps and a few other "old" things. Mostly ephemera. I want to begin collecting old diaries and journals in the near future.
I collect it because it's fun to see how people wrote, spoke and dressed in the past. And I like to make up stories about the lives of those in the photos and both the letter writer and receiver. I also collect the stuff because it documents how much people have and haven't changed over the years.

Magic wands.
Did you see the great article in ( i think) Scientific American that had the blown-up pictures of sand from all over the world? Sand from different places looks really different at the microscopic level.
It was fascinating - like discovering a whole new world.

i dont collect anything but what would be cool is if you were to collect sand from the mariana trench and then climb the top of mt everest and bury it there. you know, "from the bottom of the world to the top."
