This is only a first glance stereotype for the character so please no insulting comments. This is a teenage boy who still believes in heroics and a code of honor. He will fight literally whenever he sees a wrong done, but he's just not strong enough and loses constantly. He is really hotheaded. He really does believe in helping others out. He is not very serious in conversations with others. Some may even call him obnoxious.

I have never read Piers Anthony, but this character is not based on him and as I always do. I am going to add a sadness to all my characters.

The code of honor I'm thinking of is a little stricter than most teenagers.

Harry Potter. I love reading about him, but I feel he is a wuss so I will try to make my character tougher.

Andrew C. you haven't really read all 6 books because Harry Potter is actually quite serious and Ron is the obnoxious entity. Read better.

My opinion is that the story should not be about what the character is like, but what situations you put the character in, and how the character reacts to these situations. Then, depending on the plot, pick a name with symbolic reference. If he seems like an Everyman, give him an ordinary name like David or Michael. If he's a fighter, give him the name of a famous warrior (depending on what he's fighting for) like Martin or Gabriel. You get the idea. Good luck.

Honestly I would say, Harry Potter. It is almost like you have described him to T. Over the past 6 books he has been all of those things that you listed above. He has shown time and time again that he will not back down from a fight. To many times he has not been on speaking terms with his friends for on stupid reason or another and well, Snape himself has called him obnoxious many times.

I'd give him an old-fashioned and little known name. Wendal Chivas perhaps?
