Lets say i was selling beautiful handmade cards. Some were actual photography, others were cute creative cards. They were a reasonable price. If you had a choice between buying some hallmark card at the store or my cards which would you choose and why?

I would buy yours, for the simple reason that I am a crafts person and have had the challenge of selling my stuff. I would buy yours to help support hand made items.

Odd question but it all depends on the cards you provide. Do you provide themed cards, occasioned cards, custom cards, cards with captions, no captions, how big are they, how small are they, what demographic do they appeal to, what mediums are being used, what textures (if any) are used, what price range exactly is it, do have a certain quantity you keep on hand or do you make them according to customer demand?

If you couldn't provide for the customer (or me) what I was looking for based on those things and many more things then I would go with a trusted brand where I can get what I want, when I want with the variety and versatility I was looking for.

You might have more success creating a prototype (the card you made) and assembling a small kit with instructions and selling that. I've discovered that people aren't nearly as interested in buying my miniatures as they are in making one like I've made. I created a beautiful little flower and plant arrangement that barely sold, but when I put all the materials together with instructions and a picture of the finished product, I got twice as much money and couldn't put them together fast enough.

It's win-win. I still get to create and make some money too. Just something to consider.

Yours. I would much rather have a handmade card than one that everyone else can also get a copy of, one made with care.

I prefer handmade over machined items like cards and jewerly. Nothing says "Happy Birthday" "welcome" or whatever than a handmade card.
