The U.S. News Rankings for 2006 has these schools listed as the top ten national universities based on selectivity, graduation rates, resources, etc.:
1. Harvard University
2. Princeton University
3. Yale University
4. University of Pennsylvania
5. Duke University
6. Stanford University
7. California Institute of Technology
8. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
9. Columbia University
10. Dartmouth College

However, these are by no means the only good colleges and universities in the United States. The most important thing about a school is how well it fits the individual student. The website www.collegeboard.com has a good "College MatchMaker" tool that can help you find a school that's right for you.

The 8 Ivies (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Penn, Columbia, Cornell, Brown) are some of the best private universities in the USA. The following are also comparable: Stanford, MIT, CalTech, Duke, Northwestern, Berkeley, University of Chicago. There are many others that are similarly good. Do a Google search for college rankings.

There are some good websites that actually have students fill out information about the colleges and universities that they are attending and then allow people who visit their sites to compare those colleges or universities using the answers from the students. This form of research gives you a good first hand opinion of things, and bring up almost every aspect of school like the greek life, academics, technology, housing, etc. No matter where you choose be sure to go to a campus visit and find a campus that feels most like you. Good Luck!!

what majors are you in? which state are you most interested in? for a business, psychology, law, International studies, biology, chemistry, etc, the University of California, Berkely is a great choice; it's a public school and is ranked in the top 10 for great schools by the Princeton review. The city is warm and lively; there are so many things to do; the greek life is one of the best. Also the University of California, Davis is great. Stanford is good but they have a low acceptance rate for freshman and transfer students, so you not only have to have the grades but also other extracurricular activites.

There is a lot of good colleges out there, first you need to have a major and then go from there. You can look on each college websight and see how you like it. Its important for a college to be good based on how you fit in, how the teachers are, etc.

Harvard Uni
Duke Uni
Eastern Kentucky Uni
Uni of Kentucky

are all "good" universities but each teach differnt majors so you need to choose a major first before you research them.

There are quite a few, it depends where you live, if you are interested in staying in your state, or going to another state where you have to pay out of state tuition, and some colleges are better for the field you have chosen.
Of course I have to say Penn State would be my # 1
Georgetown
Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Notre Dame, Marymount,
there is a small college called Juniata college that is supposed to be good, there are just too many to list, I said Penn State, because i took some classes there, the south have a lot of good colleges, for business, I hear Wharton school is good.
That is just a small sampling.

In Toledo we have a great University, The University of Toledo os a great institution with many different programs and areas of interests. They are also in the process of merging with the Medical University of Ohio, to create an even bigger and better learning environment. Take look at the school, trust me I"ve received 2 degrees from there.

Depends on what you want to do. Drink and Party I would say the Wisconsin(Playboy's #1 party school) or Colorado. Liberal Arts, Business I would say an Ivy League school if you can get in. (Expensive) Technology - MIT or CalTech. Most Colleges have pluses and minuses you just have to weigh each one.

Boston University is great. So many different areas to study, right in the heart of Boston, and tons of different colleges in the area. Great bar scene doesn't hurt either....
