This is a question to those who are religious, non-religious, or to those who just don't care. If you think about all the religions, they're pretty much the same, each telling you how to live your life and consequences/benefits of doing certain things. Each also has some sort of high spirtual leader/lord/etc that one praises. Well, the question is, what if there is one true religion. I mean, if you tell someone something, they tend to mess it up a little, so what if that happened with religion. What if long, long, LONG! ago, there was a true god, or a group of gods, and everyone did have to do certain things to get to them. And over the years, everyone has just been adding and taking away what they think people should do, because of power, or whatever. Or, a religion could've just evolved depending on culture, and modern (in those days) societies. Well, this isn't really a question, I guess I wanted comments/answers.

Interesting question...
Long, long, long ago... i think there was some serious issues that needed addressing - think about it, they had to construct a 'law' book that was sent form 'above' to tell people they shouldn't kill...
Remember, it was not that long ago that blacks and women didn't have the right to vote - so it makes sense that all those years ago - murder and adultery, greed and theft was just as prominent - if not worse than it is now.
Those in power knew that people had good in them, but they also knew that others needed a little more persuading than others - and what better way to influence the illiterate and the ignorant, than by saying these guidelines are Divine?
How would anyone prove them wrong? ...
Religion began meaning well - but some saw it as an opportunity to establish themselves a better life. Through greed of money and power, some people (and in all religions) used religion to their own benefit.
so you know what? I don't believe there is a true God, or one religion that has it more accurate than others. - I think religion was in-fact, a necessary tool for an old society to ensure order for its peoples.
At the end of the day, have faith that most people want an easy life. Who really has the energy to be nasty to everyone? Make sure you laugh regularly (even if that means watching Lee Evans stand-up videos) and smile. I'm not naive to the divs in the world that think they can 'dupe' others out of positions and money - but think about it - they are usually the unhappy ones. No real friends - they don't say it is lonely at the top for no reason.
Aim to better yourself, but be happy with what you have and I guarantee you will be happier than you would if you spent every Sunday praying for more money and a better life.

I think the same story was told in different "languages" for different cultures - and I agree, they are very similar in their essence.
There is probably a true religion - but I think that religion is a tool (a creation of humans to help with the difficulties in life and a place to turn for the big answers). I think that really, "god" is a lot more flexible than everybody thinks and all of these answers will be accepted as right answers (or no answer at all - equally valid!) "...though the answer we were looking for was be kind to others, follow your heart to know what is right, and when you need help think (or pray or mediate or dream or visualize) about the outcome you wish, and we at home base will make it so for you. But you win anyway - your answer is equally correct!"
Let's hear it for each and every one of us! Well done!

Well I know the true Religion because the Holy spirt has led me there and it is the same church that Christ started when he was on the Earth and it is called The Church Of Jeuse Christ Of Latter Day Saints . And you can look into it by calling this number 1888-537-2200 and ask them to send you a book of Morman and have them hand deliver it ok.

I am a 13 year old without a religion and I think that this is very confusing to anyone. I am looking for a new religion but don't know what is right or wrong yet. We cannot really say what is divine or not unless we are divine.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
(James 1:27)
God is a Spirit [not a religion]: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
(John 4:24)
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
(John 17:17)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1)
There is a difference between a preformanced based religion and a relationship with the Father, our Creator. Which is obtained through His Son.
God bless you.

If you read about religions, you will find out that all religions have the same message, which is there is one God who created us and we are supposed to worship him ,there were different Prophets ,languages and holy books but one message.

I'd have to say that the true religion is whatever belief brings a person closer to god, or goddess, or spirit, or whatever they feel is their higher being. It is whatever makes a person feel whole.

A true religion is any practice that truly links your mind with your spirit.
We all know that the word religion comes from the latin re-legare, which means re-link, or link ONCE AGAIN.
What we weren't told is what is that we have to re-link.
And this is our mind with our spirit.
Our consciousness with our spirituality.
