it could be paranoia. I tear mine becuase i read somewhere that the ripping of paper is calming. And if you focus on the sound, it truly is.

I like tearing paper and it's satisfying a need to vent when your under stress + it does serve a good purpose of security when it comes to bill information you get in the mail landing in the wrong hands. I also think tearing or scrunching paper is not a gender thing as much as it is a habit.

Wow, that may be the number one most bizarre generalization I have ever heard?
For one, women tear paper? Where did you hear this?
Second, men fold or scrunch? Where did you hear this?
Is there some unwritten rule that I and everyone I know haven't heard of?

women tear like a human shredder.....making sure any information will not be known. Men scrunch into a ball so they can throw it, one of the primal sports.....and say "2 points" if it hits a target when thrown.
Women care about destroying the evidence and doing it effectively and efficiently small.....men do the quickest, most
basic action.

I myself tear up unusable sheets of paper to make sure no one can get any of the information that I have written down on that sheet of paper.

if it has anything i've written on it (which most unusable paper around here ends up getting doodled on with names of guys and all that sappy stuff) or if it has anything about me on it.. i'll tear it. why? because people DO go through your trash when you never expect it.
my late husband and i once lived in an apartment and we always tossed our trash in the dumpster in our parking lot.. like our landlord asked us to do. about a month later a man showed up at our door with a few pieces of mail (opened envelopes) and pizza boxes with our name on them. turned out it wasn't our landlord's dumpster at all and we were illegally using this other man's dumpster without even knowing it. but him having all our information really creeped me out.
and guess what? if it's love letters or anything like that.. i burn them! and it isn't just me.. i know lots of other females who do that too. KILL THE PAPER! :P
but why do men fold and scrunch? i guess they just don't care.. that and they probably don't sit around drawing hearts and flowers around the name of someone they like. :P

women's tear paper because there temper are so tin, while men's scrunch it with thier hand close(fist) if thet are mad and if patience of men applied they fold the paper just to show that they are in control

Not all women tear paper and not all men fold or scrunch paper!!! My Husband and I don't do either, we use a paper shreader.

I never made that observation, but that's funny.
Another question is why do they have to destroy it first? It could be a blank paper with a line on it and it everyone I know would destory the paper before throwing it away.

You have way to much time on your hands to even notice that.
You would be better off scrutinizing your own habits ,so that you are not irritating to anyone around you.
Self improvement is always a good thing .Working on YOU ,will take your mind off of others.
