My sister is very pregnant and she's tried everything: Milk, Tums, Rolaids, Maalox, Zantac (all safe to have). Any other things that you know of that can work, but safe for pregnancy?

Prevention, as outlined below, is a primary feature for heartburn management in alternative medicine and traditional medicine. Dietary adjustments can eliminate many causes of heartburn. Herbal remedies include bananas, aloe vera gel, chamomile (Matricaria recutita), ginger (Zingiber officinale), and citrus juices, but there is little agreement here. For example, ginger, which seems to help some people, is claimed by other practitioners to cause heartburn and is thought to relax the LES. There are also many recommendations to avoid citrus juices, which are themselves acidic. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) can help relieve the symptoms of heartburn by reestablishing balance in the acid output of the stomach. Several homeopathic remedies are useful in treating heartburn symptoms. Among those most often recommended are Nux vomica, Carbo vegetabilis, and Arsenicum album. Acupressure and acupuncture may also be helpful in treating heartburn. Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is an inexpensive alternative to use as an antacid. It reduces esophageal acidity immediately, but its effect is not long-lasting and should not be used by people on sodium-restricted diets.

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aMGmM

The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.

Hey there,
The most common symptom of GERD is persistent heartburn. Heartburn is experienced as an unpleasant and painful burning sensation in the esophageal area.

If you have already been diagnosed with GERD / acid reflux you can also try out this natural remedy http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=568

I have this issue myself so heres some things that I've learned. Over eating can cause heartburn, so even if you drink milk, this can atually make it worse cause milk fills you up even more. Also never lay down immidiatly after eating. Wait at least 2 or 3 hours. Somtimes eating vanilla ice cream calms down my heartburn and since its made with milk but not actually milk itself, this is fine. Tums works too. Hopes this helps.

I had the same problem...Could only take so many tums...she might want to see her Dr. I was told the more heartburn you had, the more hair that your baby will have. It was true in my case...I had heartburn that could take down a elephant...my baby was born with a whole head of hair

Believe it or not, drinking sauerkraut juice will safely and quickly, completely get rid or even the worst heartburn. If you don't believe me, just try it once, and you will be astonished.

One of the joys of pregnancy is heartburn, and it never goes away. I had a friend that got heart burn when she was about three months pregnant and it lasted the rest of her pregnancy, and after she had her daughter it went away. She ate oatmeal one time, and she got heart burn, it's just that way because of how the baby sits.

A few things I found were: 1. Warm baking soda water
2. Don't lay on your left side and 3. Do not lay down flat. Keep yourself propped.
