Hey, are you an menally if not phyically old hag ? I have witnessed the panorama of 8 decades and even though there were some black moments when I had sneaking doubt that Hindu incarnation-the destroyer- was indeed coming riding on his black steed. But when the corner turned I found that the world has made a turn for the better. In this ear when morals are in the melting pot the site of things near and dear to us boiling away do make us nervous but wait when the heady brew would come out.

i think that culture still exists in our society. The problem occurs when the popular or profitable things are so generic. Culture does not sell and many have never been subjected to and are therefore not interested in such things. As long as our society continues to expand there will be culture along with fresh ideas and creativity. As with past times there will be a time in which new things will be questioned and explored.

Yes.

Look at the Romans, they worshiped their gods and built them temples that lasted centuries. Today our cultural gods are the “Pop-Tart” of the week and the hip new thing, and they don’t last a month.

Look at the Renaissance, learning for the sake of knowledge, creating for the sake beauty. Today any major break through is branded, patented, copy writed and packaged in time to have an ad in prime time, and beauty is, well beauty is now a uniform conglomeration for false ideals and facades easily applied like silly putty by your local plastic surgeon.

The greatest land mark of the 18th century was the creation of a nation derived from the need to escape oppression.

The current land mark of the 21st is our creation of oppression.

We’re all dead inside.

No. Culture is very dynamic, and just because we don't relate to aspects of a culture it doesn't mean there is none. Culture is very regional. Culture in large areas, to me, is going down the tubes, but pretty much everyone in the history of the world has thought that at some point in time.

what do you mean, America is full of culture. There's a plethora of ethnicities here, every block, every corner, different races, different faces, they're all here for one thing, the American dream (which is a culture in itself). America is the culture of opportunities & dreams. We strive for excellence & look after our fellow neighbors by providing them welfare benefits, social security, pension plans. This is the best culture in the world! nothing like it! America is the mold every country must model themselves after.

No, it's just hard to see because you're part of it. Everything from the way you talk, to the food you eat, to the way you dress, to the way you act is part of our culture.
