Just heard that the Senate and the House gave themselves a nice little raise. $3,300.00, Bringing their yearly salary to $168,000.00.
Isn't that nice of them? Don't we pay their salary? I don't think they deserve a raise.

Congress is responsible for setting their own salaries. That is a lot of money. I suppose they consider it a cost of living increase. Washington is a very expensive place to live, but most do have other sources of income.

Since they work for us, they should be required to approach us and ask for a raise. Then we should vote on it and pay them according to their job performance.

Wouldn't that be great! They might actually go to work for us if they knew we ultimately decided whether they got a pay raise or not.
