i don't think there is any real benefit to owning an SUV these days except for larger trunk space. but they are starting to develop more hybrid vehicles and that in general is a good thing. so a hybrid suv would be beneficial in many ways, including having a large car with plenty of room for people and things while also getting good gas mileage.

I see zero benifit. For one you have to keep them on pavement or else they get stuck easily. Where I go fishing there are signs saying "NO SUV'S" because they always get stuck on the trail which keeps vehichles heading out from leaving and its hard on the tow trucks to pull them out. Anyways SUV's you rarely see outside a city, I swear they were made for scared drivers, consumer slaves and people with low self esteem.

only thing I see is that you can get a cheaper SUV than before, they will bargain like crazy. Some people still need large autos for trailering, kids, comfort.

Lots of room and increased crash protection. But the gas prices kick those off the list pretty fast.
