Some babies crawl; some never do. As long as he learns *some* way to get around, he is normal. As for sitting, does he sit unsupported *ever*? Average age for starting to sit unsupported is 5-9 months (see sources section below), so he is just fine on that, too.
As long as he is developing and not *too* far behind "average", don't worry. Every baby is different.

Even though crawling is an important part for the development of children, there has been studies that confirmed that some children will not crawl before they walk. As a matter of fact I started walking when I was 2 years old. However, it would be a good ideal if you model crawling to your child or if you would do some type of activity that would want to make him crawl towards you.

My son is 9 months and he's not crawling yet. And I know a girl whose baby didn't sit up until he was almost 10 months. I've heard that some babies just don't crawl, some scoot on their butts and some just get up and go to walking

If he's not able to sit up alone, talk to your pediatrician, there may be a developmental problem. But if its limited to crawling, not all kids crawl. My son who walks, runs and jumps just fine at almost three, never crawled. He went from rocking to pulling up, to cruising, and then on to walking. He took off and ran at around ten months! But that's pretty early. Some kids don't walk until after a year old, it's prefectly normal. Relax, and don't compare your son to other kids, it will only make you crazy. Just give him time, he'll get moving, and then you won't be able to slow him down!

i don't think there is anything to be worried about. My son didn't crawl until he was 10 months old. Some babies just develop slower, it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with your child. If you are truly worried I would ask your pediatrician. But most likely your son just likes to be in one place and sees no need to move around a lot!

Though it's true that most babies do crawl, they tend to do so at their own pace. Some may do so at 6 months of age while others not until closer to 10 months. And still, others will never crawl at all, maybe only creep a bit. Unless there are other motor skills concerns, I wouldn't worry about it. You may find he will walk and never crawl at all.

My son is 14 months, and just started crawling. He use to just Army crawl. Don't worry everything will be ok. Try to give your son as much TUMMY TIME as possible, I know it is hard! Put toys by him, so he tries to reach and play with them. Kids have a mind of their own, and they call the shots on their development. Hang in there!

My son was 10 days off 10 months when he crawled, i started to think that it would never happen but one day he just decided he was going to do it and he did! He was chasing a grape that had rolled out of reach, and he loved grapes so he just went after it. As for him not sitting up very well, do you place him in a sitting up position to encourage him! A friend of mine had the same situation where he never sat up, she was getting worried i told her to place him in the sitting up position and see how he went and he was sitting in no time!

Your son will sit up and crawl when he is ready. All you can do is promote the process by doing baby exercises that strengthens those muscles, and continually show him how. Put him down on the floor whenever possible: in the upright position holding his hands while in front of him, and on his tummy, placing him on all fours ocassionally. It'll come.
Try your best not to measure your individual baby by general standards.
If your worry persists, ask your doctor.

I've heard that since SIDS is such a big concern infants/children no longer sleep on their stomachs they don't get enough 'tummy time' to develop their leg and arm muscles and crawling later or skipping crawling all together. This may not be true in your situation but if it is you may try putting him on his stomach more during the day.
